Rochelle is a junior at Barnard majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior. She founded Grey Matters CU because of her passions for neuroscience, accessibility, and interdisciplinary study. Outisde of GMCU, you can find her conducting UX research at Pilleve or researching taste at the Glendinning lab. She enjoys running, chai tea lattes, and podcasts by Esther Perel.

Natalie is a junior from Pewee Valley, Kentucky on the Pre-Health track majoring in Cellular Neuroscience and minoring in Mathematics. She is the Head of Outreach at Pulse, part of Scientists & Engineers for a Better Society, and on the E-Board for Women in Mathematics. Outside of GMCU, she works in two neuro labs and enjoys knitting

Rebecca is a junior at Barnard from New Jersey studying Neuroscience and Behavior with a cellular concentration. Her passion for discussing her research to non-STEM peers inspired her to co-found GMCU! She wants to encourage the curiosity of the brain and mitigate the daunting nature that comes with neuroscience. You can find her working at the Zuker Lab or grabbing a Pret latte and spending hours in NOCO.
Elynn Chang '23

Elynn is a sophomore in Columbia College from New Jersey. She is majoring in Neuroscience and is also studying Clarinet Performance through the Columbia-Juilliard Exchange Program. Outside of GMCU, you can find her giving tours through the Undergraduate Recruitment Committee, playing in the Columbia Orchestra, or hunting down the best carrot cake in the city.

Blue is a junior from Savannah, Georgia studying psychology and Hispanic studies. He has a special interest in neuropsychology, and also loves language learning. When he's not busy working on his responsibilities for GMCU, he is either napping with his dogs or lying to his parents about how much schoolwork he has done.

Kasey (she/her) is a trained classical ballet dancer. She looks over her shoulder in a black and white headshot.
Kasey is a senior at Columbia College majoring in English. The choice to attend Columbia came as a surprise, since she was pursuing a professional career in classical ballet in NYC at the time. She came to double major in Dance and Neuroscience, but discovered a passion for creative writing. You can find her scheming up story plots in coffee shops or geeking out over Ancient Egyptian art at the MET.
Anastasia Velikovskaya '21

Anastasia is a senior from New York City majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior. She volunteers as an EMT with CU EMS, teaches abnormal psychology to high school students, and researches cognitive mechanisms of auditory hallucinations at NYSPI. In her free time, she enjoys visiting historic house museums and playing chess. She hopes to be a child psychiatrist.

Harini is a junior Barnard College majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior. She is passionate about promoting access to education and awareness of the needs of differently abled people. She is also a Resident Assistant at Barnard, a Co-Captain of Columbia's Primer South Asian Dance Team, CU Taal, and works as a research volunteer at NYU Langone.

Outside of Grey Matters, she is a Research Assistant in the Pischedda Lab and a TA for the Barnard Genetics course

Atara is a junior majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior, and minoring in Science and Public Policy. She holds leadership positions in Student Government Association, McAc, Network of Premed Students, and more. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, singing, riding her motorcycle, and volunteering for organizations such as Musicians on Call. She hopes to become a neurosurgeon.

She has always been fascinated by neuroscience, and the application of biological principles to the mind. Outside of studying and research, she works as a photographer and graphic designer. She is passionate about the intersection of art and science and excited to work on the publication.

Ashley is a freshman from New Jersey planning to major in Neuroscience and Behavior. She is passionate about making neuroscience accessible to everyday readers and believes scientific presentation is just as valuable as the content itself. In her free time, she enjoys bullet-journaling, tutoring elementary students, listening to the 99% Invisible podcast, and baking banana nut bread.

Atara is a junior at Barnard College majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior and a research assistant at the Fernandez Lab. She participates in and organizes CU Artist Society meetings, occasionally joins art competitions (recently winning the American Genetics Society annual fruit fly art competition), and contributes art to nonprofits (selling portraiture of birds at the Wild Bird Fund).
